1) What is your favorite genre to write?
YA. I started writing YA when I was a teenager out of a love for teen movies. Now I like to think I am bringing a flare for film to the pages of my novels. The characters are so dramatic and fun.
2) Which genre have you never tried before, but would you like to try out?
Fantasy. It seems so freeing to start with a whole new world you build from scratch with a new set of rules. It is so interesting to see the best and worst influences of humanity play into great fantasy stories. The vivid imagery alone represents the heights of creativity.
3) Please tell us about your book.
Milan is a girl struggling to carve out a true identity for herself in a world that seems to love just one dimension of her. She is constantly challenged by the idea that love lost can be found. The question is what must be risked to attain such a goal.
The story is set against a glamorous New York City backdrop.
4) Which character was your favorite, and why? Which character was your least favorite, and why?
I do love my main character Milan. Additionally, I have a special place in my heart for Milan's two best friends, Frenchy and Sierra. They are such opposites yet they find ways to work together as sisters. I like that Frenchy isn't afraid of what she wants and is constantly redefining who she is. And I like that Sierra is such a grounded, good person. She has style. She has goals and would never compromise herself. These two characters have admiral pieces to them that are so different yet strike the same chord of admiration.
I like Cara the least. But she is almost a character you love to hate. Except there moments where you see a real person. And then she's right back to crazy.
5) Why should everyone read your book?
If you want to fall in love with new, interesting characters Broken is the book for you. If you believe in love above everything this book is for you.
