“I was close by,” a deep sexy voice said softly from behind Ava.
A shiver slithered over Ava’s flesh and dove deliciously deep into her core at the sound of his voice. She swiveled around in the bar chair, knocking her bare knee against his massive thigh. Her gaze slowly traveled up from his jean-clad thighs, over the impressive bulge, past the black leather belt, up his blue button-down dress shirt showing off his muscular chest and neck.
She squeezed her legs together, trying to stop the tide of need creaming her panties.
His strong jaw, full lips, perfect Germanic nose and blue eyes pulled her in, locking her in place. She couldn’t get past his mesmerizing blue eyes. She wanted him. Heck, she wanted to strip down and beg him to take her right then in this public place, on top of the bar, number five on her list. The man in front of her was a dream, her dream. He was handsome with a hard bad boy, Viking king kind of vibe and no tattoos that she could see.
“Hi,” she squeaked.
He frowned, dismissing her with barely a glance. “Hi.” His gaze traveled to Stacy. “Who’s the client and where is the sketch?”
Stacy handed him the sketch. “Sit down and don’t be rude. This is my friend, Ava. Ava, this is Eric.”
Eric with the deep blue eyes and thick blonde hair turned Ava’s chair back around to face the bar and sat down next to her. He raised his eyebrow and looked over Ava’s head to Stacy. “Who is the client and who is the artist?”
“Do you like it?” Stacy asked, tilting her head as a slight smile crossed her lips.
“The sketch is…interesting,” he mumbled. “Is this from a professional?”
“No,” Ava said, finding her voice again.
He kept his frown, but his eyes darkened a little as he quickly scanned her from head to toe. “Do you know the artist?”
Ava swallowed the lump forming in her throat from his curious behavior toward her. “Yes.”
“Me?” she squeaked. She cleared her throat wishing he didn’t affect her so deeply. “Sorry. Me?”
He slowly narrowed his gaze on her, inching closer. “You? Are you sure?”
The way he questioned her, as if she were a child, pissed her off. Steve always spoke patronizingly to her. She lowered her voice and used her professional voice to calmly give back attitude to him in spades. “Yes. I drew that a few years ago. If you aren’t skilled enough to scan it into a computer, make a stencil and ink it into my skin, then we’re done talking.” She had done her research on tattoos, too. She knew exactly what was involved. She turned around to Stacy. “Do you know anyone else?” She bit her bottom lip, gnawing at it nervously, hoping that gorgeous and arrogant Eric would vanish as quickly as he appeared.
Ava spun her chair around from the bar until she faced him.
He leaned forward. “I am skilled, Ava...”
